Day 15

We shook our mooring and headed to the next mooring spot we wanted to go to. Now we recognized the WWII Pill Boxes along the way. Another calm and peaceful trip down the canal. Just a couple hours later we got to our mooring point. You must remember we actually go slower than people walk! There is another boat moored here, a different looking boat. We moored up and settled in and then walked to our next pub on our route!

I've learned to do the rope just right!

The Exchequer. Another lovely place. We ordered a starter and our meal, John ordered the pork tenderloin and I opted for the chicken. I wanted something lighter and mild today. I still feel a bit off from everything we have eaten. When our "starter" arrived we were stunned by the enormous size of it! While it is fantastic, it is more than we can even eat! We gave it our best and asked them to please box up our actual meal to take away! We ate all we could, then spread the salmon spread on the bread and put  the last two slices of beef between more of the bread, with the butter, for later. Mushroom patties (not sure what else to call them) prawns, salad, cream cheese stuffed red sweet peppers, olives, cheese, gherkins - everything was delicious. Since we have two meals to take away, we decided a little dessert was in order! Peach crisp did not disappoint. The staff is beyond nice and probably thinks we are eccentric Americans, which maybe we are! So off we go with more in our take away than we actually ate in the restaurant! That's fine. We planned to eat it later in the day.

However, things changed. We relaxed and read for the rest of the afternoon and then the unfortunate happened. John became sick. It couldn't be the food as we ate the same thing, just something didn't agree with him or what, we are not sure. It was a horrid evening for John, certainly not enjoyable to hear someone wretch for hours where there is nothing I could do to help him. After about 3 hours I was getting concerned and wondered if I should walk back to the pub and find out where the nearest hospital was. John assured me this must stop soon, so I hoped and prayed… Finally he fell asleep at the dining/lounge area and I went to bed to watch something on my Kindle. When checking our battery I noticed it was low. I turned out all the lights and checked the fridge, sure enough the little light was blinking again. I followed the instructions and after 2 tries it was working again and with the lights out the battery numbers are up to almost normal. Hoping John wakes feeling somewhat human in the morning. Not the day we planned for sure, but glad it is not worse.
