Day 25

Our last full day in London has arrived. Bittersweet really. We are tired and ready to go home but then it was sad to say "see you later" to G&T. 

Anyway, we had a great day. We met up and G&T's apartment and took the Underground into Center City area to the Sky Garden. Tawny got the free tickets for us, it isn't easy to get in there. They do have a certain number of tickets ready for drop ins, but that is iffy and you might not get in. We just beat the rain. Thankfully, we did the Outdoor Terrace when first arriving. As we went on the the inside areas it began to rain. They Outdoor Terrace was then closed, not even an option to go out there. That said, we had tremendous views before the rain began. Best views in the city. I thought the view was good from the London Eye, but this far surpassed that. George was great in pointing out various things and we even managed to see what we believe was our Tower Hill hotel.

From here George arranged to take us to a local wine bar called Balls Brothers. They have 9 wine bars around the city. Here is where locals will eat and perhaps even carry on with some lunchtime business lunches. It was delightful. We each had a starter and surprisingly enough the Broccoli soup with Curry seasoning was the biggest hit. However, everything was delicious. John has discovered he loves Curry and I am so happy about that! I had Chicken Schnitzel, John had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, G&T both had Bangers and Mash, which looked quite good! Some wine rounded out our meal and soon we were stuffed and on our way back. This is when we said "until next time" - not good-bye. We are all tired and I still need to pack so we passed on a drink with then at their apartment. 
We have a 6:30 taxi in the morning, not sure when I will post again. Perhaps not until I get home.

Besides there are outside spaces and one can take extra days to do their chosen trip as well.  For instance, you could take what would normally be a one week trip and stretch it into two weeks to further enjoy towns, Pubs, and the countryside along the way! Tomorrow is Departure

I typically get a little nervous before a trip, I am a little nervous...  There was a lot to put in place for this adventure because it is like 3 different trips in one. The trip came to pass because dear friends who live in London are getting married. So first we will have a week in London to explore. From there we will take a train to Cornwall and Polhawn Fort , where we will be staying for 3 nights. We will then take a train to Hook Station and taxi to Galleon Marine where we will board our own canal boat for a week and explore the Basingstoke Canal . After that it will be the train back to London where we will spend the last of out time. We will see Evita with our friends who will be back from their Honeymoon and they will also take us to Highclere Castle . To say we are excited is an understatement!  Is everything in place? I sure hope so!!! So, GOOD-BYE for now because it is time to print our boarding passes!!!
